Forest ecology

The complexity of forest eco-systems
Forests are subject to many wishes and expectations. They have to ensure a clean water table, contain an abundant and varied animal and plant life, produce wood, bind carbon, provide opportunities for an outdoor life and hunting. However, many factors counteract these goals, such as air pollution, climate changes and management regime - in some cases lack of management. The work of Forest & Landscape Denmark within forest ecology deals with an understanding of the complexity of forest eco-systems. The knowledge thus gained promotes a forest management that is ecologically and environmentally justifiable.
