Claus Felby is professor in Wood and Biomass Technology. His main research areas lie within biocatalytic tools for the wood and pulp & paper industries, as well as conversion of lignoellulosic carbohydrates to fermentable sugars for bioenergy. Also his work includes fundamental studies on the structure and properties of lignin in wood and plant cell walls.
Current research projects are within development of macromolecules during lignin biosynthesis, biotechnology for preservation of wood and hydrolysis of celluloses and hemicelluloses to fermentable sugars.
Claus Felby is chairman of the Steering Committee for Fuel for Life, the strategic research intiative for sustainable primary production for bioenergy at the Faulty of Life Sciences. See website.
