Workshop Ethical and Legal Aspects of Farm Animal Cloning
On November 24-25, 2005 The Danish Centre for Bioethics and Risk Assessment together with Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics, The Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic held a workshop on legal and ethical aspects of farm animal cloning in Prague.
The aim of the workshop was to have an interdisciplinary discussion of the legal and ethical aspects of farm animal cloning. This discussion should feed into recommendations to the EC on regulation and guidelines and spur a broader European debate.
The objectives of the workshop were:
· To identify different perceptions of farm animal cloning through presentation of and dialogue between different stakeholders · To discuss and identify the different considerations that possible recommendations for future regulation/legislation must take into account · To identify and discuss pros et cons of the different regulation mechanisms in EU and internationally · To develop different scenarios of regulation that can form a basis of dialogue with stakeholders and the public .
